Pumping System Assessment Industrial Training Workshop

This workshop will be held on July 14, 2010 at Columbus State Community College Center for Workforce Development. Don’t wait too long, registration for the event ends July 7th! The fee to register for this workshop is $100 per person.
According to the Energy Industries of Ohio, “Register for the Pumping System Assessment workshop to identify energy savings opportunities in your pump systems. Developed for the U.S. DOE, the Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT) calculates the energy and cost savings you can recover from pump system optimization. After quickly assessing existing pump and motor efficiency, PSAT calculates final results based on algorithms from Hydraulic Institute standards and motor performance characteristics from the MotorMaster database. After completing this training session, you will understand how PSAT can help you determine the best configuration for your pump systems.”

Job Creation Tax Credit Program Changes

The Ohio Department of Development Job Creation Tax Credit (JCTC) program guidelines have recently undergone some major changes.  In order to qualify for the JCTC under the old guidelines a company was required to create a minimum of 25 new jobs at $10.88 per hour average base wage.  The new guidelines place more of an emphasis on overall payroll increase and less on the hourly pay rate.  According to the new rules a company must generate a minimum of 10 new full-time equivalent jobs (35+ hours per week) and $660,000 in new annual payroll.  Thus, a company creating 25 new jobs would now need to pay at least $12.68/hour average base wage before benefits.  For more details on this program click here

Airbus Supplier Summit
At this event, Ohio suppliers will learn more about opportunities to work within the Airbus Americas supply chain. Airbus is a leading aircraft manufacturer whose customer focus, commercial know-how, technological leadership, and manufacturing efficiency have led to its continued success in the industry. With an estimated $4 billion in direct Airbus procurement last year, Ohio ranks first in Airbus spending in the U.S. and fifth in the number of Airbus aircraft-related suppliers in the country.  Click Here for more information about event and registration details.

Using Federal Tax Incentives To Finance Projects
Fueled by the crash of the financial markets, financing for projects around the globe has become more difficult to obtain than ever before. As a result, many projects have at best been stalled, or at worst abandoned. Fortunately for U.S. communities, the federal government offers a wide range of tax credits that can help make projects feasible.

New Markets, historic preservation, energy-efficiency and low-income housing tax credits each can be used individually or in combination. However, understanding which tax credit to use, or how to combine credits, can be complex and challenging.

Join IEDC on December 2, 2009, to learn more about an array of federal tax incentives.

Project Hire

Total funding of up to $7 million will be issued to Workforce Investment Areas to serve 1,200 to 2,000 job seekers, on a first come, first serve basis, who have lost their primary source of income.  The job training will be funded through the use of Ohio Learning Accounts (OLA), which will provide dislocated workers up to $6,000 for short-term training which may include classroom training resulting in an industry-recognized, portable credential and/or on-the job training (OJT) in concert with the hiring employer.  All training must be completed by December 31, 2010.  OLA draft policy will be forthcoming. The employer may also be eligible for tax credits, such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
