Upper Sandusky Ranked Among Best Places to Start a Business in Ohio

The Wyandot County Office of Economic Development was notified that NerdWallet, aNerdWallet Badge consumer finance website, conducted a study to find the best places in Ohio to start a business – and Upper Sandusky ranked among the top 20.

To determine this ranking, NerdWallet examined 228 communities with populations over 5,000 and with 500 or more businesses and analyzed the following factors:

  • Business climate
    • Average revenue of businesses
    • Percentage of businesses with paid employees
    • Businesses per 100 people
  • Local economic health
    • Median annual income
    • Median monthly housing costs
    • Unemployment rate

Upper Sandusky boasts steady numbers across all variables and ranks 13th on this list of business-friendly places. With a population of 6,844, Upper Sandusky has 612 businesses and average revenue of $1,579,899 per business. Upper Sandusky also features an impressive percentage of businesses with paid employees, at 55.23%.
