Veterinarian to Establish Operations in Sycamore

Mohawk Animal Hospital, a new veterinary operation owned and operated by Sally Chevalier, will establish operations in the Village of Sycamore later this year.

Shortly after the Wyandot County Office of Economic Development Sycamore Sign(WCOED)worked to help establish a new Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) encompassing the Village of Sycamore, a real property tax incentive application was submitted for the veterinary company.  The WCOED facilitated the entire application, notification, deliberation, and approval processed necessary to move the CRA agreement forward.

By late-June all of the final CRA documents were completed, which spelled out a 75%, 10-year agreement granted to Mohawk Animal Hospital by the Village.  The incentive is estimated to save the company about $31,000 over the 10 year period.  The new Mohawk Animal Hospital is investing $337,000 in renovations to an existing commercial building, and will invest $186,000 in new personal property.  The location of the new operation will be in a facility
formerly owned by Sycamore Telephone Company at 414 W Seventh Street.

Mohawk Animal Hospital has committed to hiring 3 full-time permanent and 2 part-time permanent employees that will account for almost $134,000 in new annual payroll within its first year of operation.
