||Upper Sandusky is rich in history, yet clearly focused on the future. Our origins date back to the early 1780’s and was home to the Wyandotte Native Americans until 1842. Upper Sandusky became the Wyandot County seat in 1843 and is referred to as “Upper” by the local residents because it is located on the upper reaches of the Sandusky River.
||Located in Northwest Ohio, the Village of Carey is the second largest municipality in Wyandot County with roughly 3,600 residents. It is half way between the state capital, Columbus, to the south and Toledo to the North. Sound leadership from the Village’s elected officials and administrative staff have helped make the community as environmentally proactive as possible, while also remaining flexible and citizen friendly.
||The Commissioners are the administrative body of Wyandot County. They perform the legislative and executive functions of all county funds for the current expenses for each office or department. They serve as the chief authority in financial matters. The Commissioners have control of all physical property owned by the County such as all buildings, parks, lands, machinery, equipment, trucks, cars, etc. They have the ability to establish county facilities such as a jail, courthouse, county office buildings and a county home. They contract for the construction of public buildings, the building of roads and bridges, county ditches and maintain all county property.
||Wyandot Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit acute care hospital offering medical, surgical, obstetrical, critical care, coronary care and medical oncology. The hospital also offers a 24-hour emergency department, heliport for emergency transfers, laboratory/pathology, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, radiology, ultrasound, mammography, CT and Dexa scanning, MRI, PET and PET/CT, nuclear medicine, cardiology, physical therapy, JobCare occupational health, Wellness Center rehab and disease prevention programs and durable medical equipment and supplies.
